My Students

My students are the youngest learners in a 3-k to fifth grade school in a high-need neighborhood of Brooklyn. About 90% of the students in our school receive free lunch. This year will be our first year having the 3-K program in our school.

My students will start off the year two and three years old; such precious ages.

I cannot wait to meet these little ones and make their first year of school a truly joyous one. We will read stories, sing songs, dance, play, and explore.

My Project

Young children need many positive experiences with books and language. I'm requesting a collection of board books that my students can borrow from the classroom to read with families at home. I'm also requesting book baggies to carry the books back and forth from school to home.

Reading books with their parents will help develop the children's language and love of reading, and will also build strong home-school connections.

I'm including Spanish language books as well for my Spanish-speaking families. Board books are perfect for my 2s and 3s because they are sturdy and will hold up as the children explore and interact with the books.

Your kind donations will help start my students on their journey to becoming life-long learners and lovers of books.
