Many of my students cannot afford to purchase or rent a cello, making it difficult for them to be a part of the music program. Acquiring another cello will help make it easier for students who don't have an instrument to be a part of the program.
Instrumental lessons have many benefits other than just being able to play an instrument.
Participating in a music ensemble and lessons helps students learn how to problem solve, work hard to achieve their goals, and improves their math and test scores. For some students, it is the one thing they look forward to in school all week, and it is a gift that they can share with friends, family, and their communities for their entire lives. I only have two cellos available for students, which is not enough for the number of students that I have, and students that cannot afford an instrument are always my highest priority. .
