Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 4th grade students are the most amazing and resilient young people. We are a class of diverse learners coming from a community of low-income, high poverty, and homelessness. Many have only been in the country for a few years, and several are refugees speaking limited English. Despite the challenges they face everyday we have co-created a classroom that is a sanctuary for eager minds. We believe that diversity is our strength.

My students bring a rich tapestry of heritage and personal experience.

For many of my students their basic needs are met through school: breakfast, free/reduced lunch, access to literature and technology, social and emotional health, a friendly smile and people who care. Their families and community do their very best to provide a rich educational experience and promote a bright future for each student. My students have big dreams and bright minds, but are lacking the resources to make those dreams a reality on their own.

My Project

Our classroom needs its first iPad! My job as an educator is to prepare and support students to achieve the future they want. One way to prepare the leaders of tomorrow is through exposure to the technology of today. Experiences with an iPad will allow students to experience technology that provides a limitless amount of hands-on learning across all academic content areas.

A single iPad will make a huge difference in our classroom and benefit each students tremendously!

Why have a classroom iPad? Because students love them, they are user-friendly, have great battery life, portable, ebooks, audiobooks, create videos and presentations, engagement, digital record keeping, differentiated interventions, and apps that further their educational experiences and reinforce basic skill.
