Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Children are so full of wonder and I want to expose my students to as much of the world as possible. It is sometimes difficult to do when we have so little hands-on materials. It is imperative to use visual and kinesthetic manipulatives to make a lasting connection, that is why I need your help.

My school is made up of many low income families, ELL students and students with special needs.

I've found a hands-on approach and visual stimulation is the most beneficial way for my kindergarten students to learn. You can see how differently the students react to a lesson when there is a picture, game or manipulative involved. The lesson then comes alive and the students want to learn more. They begin to ask questions and talk about the lesson. They retain more information.

My Project

The need for social studies in our schools are great. I want to be able to teach my students about the different cultures that are in our world. They will become aware of how different each of them are and learn about each others culture. This will create good citizenship within the class, which will carry over into all aspects of their lives. I need your help to make learning more meaningful by funding some manipulatives, games, puzzles and posters. The posters and manipulatives will be used to teach the lesson. The puzzles, games and manipulatives will be used with small groups to reinforce what was taught. Every child will get a chance to use all materials because we rotate activities so that each child has a chance throughout the week. The materials would then be placed in a center for use during center time.

The visual and hands-on materials that you help find its way to my classroom, will touch the lives of many students this year and for years to come.

They will help me teach social studies in a way that connects to my students in a productive way. Your help will help me create successful life-long learners.
