My Students

My students are worthy of love, belonging, care, and compassion. No matter what they come to the table with, they are worthy.

My counseling students need the tools to engage in the hard and vulnerable work of exploring what makes them happy, what troubles them most, and how to tap into their strongest selves.

At EVCS, our goal is for our students to be confident, kind, and ready to contribute towards positive social change in the community and world around them.

My Project

My students need play therapy materials to help process their experiences and express their feelings. Play therapy helps children work through difficult emotions. It helps them feel heard and seen, and it often improves behavior at school and reduces anxiety.

Working through the threads of the underlying feelings in play therapy can be deeply reparative.

Items such as the Pay Attention, Please! Games and Activities to Improve Attention, Focus & Listening Skills, the wooden Chinese Checkers game, and the Feelings and Dealings: Emotions and Empathy Card Game will aid in play therapy techniques in my practice.

My students need tools and toys to help express their stories. They will be engaged in self-exploration, self-esteem building, character development, and positive behavior development, through various techniques of person-centered counseling, bibliotherapy, play therapy, and art therapy.

Items such as the Soft Foam Feelings Cubes, Todd Parr's Feelings Flashcards and the Feelmo Speaking Cards will help facilitate the difficult task that some students have of identifying and expressing their emotions.

Items such as the Stop, Relax & Think game, the Please Explain Anxiety to Me! book and the Mindful Kids: 50 Activities for Calm, Focus and Pace book will help students with practice metacognition skills ("thinking about their thinking").

These supplies will help me create a warm and engaging environment for my students. Donations will contribute to a space, where students can take a break, relax, reflect, and gain, or maintain control over their own personal experiences.
