This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My HeART-centered instruction promotes my young learners' resilience, resourcefulness, and adaptability by engaging their imagination, creativity, and innate curiosity about the world.

The same striving spirit that drove their families' immigrant dreams now fuels an enduring commitment to bi-literacy and academic excellence.

I marvel everyday at the joy of learning my students demonstrate when immersed in HeART-centered activities that cognitively engage their inquisitive minds and promote constructivist learning.

My Project

Young learners in my kindergarten/first grade classroom thrive in the HeART-centered classroom environment I've created through meaningful integration of the arts across the curriculum. My students' daily experiences with music, dance, and visual arts result in social, emotional, and cognitive benefits that tangibly improve their learning, mood, and general well-being. These learning conditions lower any affective-filters that may stand in the way of adjusting to being in school during a pandemic, when safety protocols such as mask-wearing, social distancing, and elimination of comforting toys such as plushies, pillows, and carpets are required for health and safety. The painting easels, finger paints, and specialized art paper I've selected provide for a variety of sensorial experiences that promote development of language, literacy, spatial awareness, and math/science concept development.
