This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

All students are special and deserve a good education!

The unique group of students that I am serving are in great need, in high poverty, and eager to learn.

They struggle every day trying to overcome and receive their basic needs. They live in one of the poorest neighborhoods in the city and state. They are funny, sweet, and hopeful. These students are unfortunately at-risk due to the high crime, poverty, homelessness, unemployment, poor health, poor fitness, and poor nutrition, patiently waiting for them outside of the school gates. They need extra attention and nurturing. They need you.

My students come from many countries, so they are also learning the English language and customs of this wonderful country.

My Project

I am requesting healthy kid snacks, color paper, red stress heart shape balls,, heart doilies, stickers, poster board, poster board letters, water, and Hershey kisses! My student's health is a priority! Students will participate in real-life activities that will teach them about the importance of a healthy heart, healthy eating, and awareness of the American Heart Association. Students will research online activities to help them have a healthy heart and learn about healthy snacks that they should be eating. We will have a day when we wear red in February. Students will participate in centers to try the activities they researched to have a healthy heart; students will have the opportunity to try delicious healthy snacks in one of the centers. Additionally, students will create poster boards, wear ribbons and stickers, and will print fliers to hand out to the other classes in the school and to the community to bring awareness to February American Heart Month.

These supplies will allow my students to participate in real-life activities and create projects to spread awareness of the important campaigns and causes in our community and nation.

These supplies and activities will help create a healthy environment which can result in healthy habits and good health. Healthy students perform better academically and have better attendance.
