Can you imagine not being able to hear and speak? These play items will help my deaf and hard of hearing students learn names of common foods that they see everyday!
The preschool students all wear hearing aids or use a cochlear implant.
With new technology they can relearn how to listen and speak at our public oral deaf and hard of hearing school. It takes a lot of work and time to give them the gift of language. We begin with basic survival words such as common foods that they see everyday.
My Project
The pretend food/cooking/phone items will encourage students to use their voices and speak for the first time in their lives. The hearing impaired students have a very limited vocabulary of commonly used food words and this will change their daily living skills. Pretend play also encourages them to speak; something that some have never done since they were born.
Your donation can help a deaf child learn how to speak and use words for the first time in their lives!
Imagine not being able to communicate your basic needs such as food? With modern technology our students have a chance to listen and speak just like you and me.
