Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This class consists of three grade levels: kindergarten, first grade and second grade students.

My amazing students are in the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Special Education Program.

Due to the combined effects of hearing loss, language delay, speech delay, lack of fine and gross motor skills and physical limitations, my students require continuous monitoring and assistance in their academic learning. However, no matter the challenges facing them, these students are eager to explore the many facets of education.

Our wonderful little school services general education students along with a Special Education Program for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) students ranging from kindergarten-8th grade. Our school, along with many other schools today, struggle to keep up with the demands of new technology and increased testing. And especially computer based testing. The help of an additional updated computer will provide independence for our students during computer based learning.

My Project

My students would greatly benefit from touchscreen technology during small group intervention and independent learning. With three grade levels in one classroom, our computer center allows student independence while allowing the teacher to work with other classroom grade-levels.

At this time, my students are struggling with receptive and expressive language delays.

With computer based learning, my students will be able to practice speech & language through online programs and activities that model expressive and receptive language. Creating an environment that fosters independence, will make student learning fun, achievable and at the same time challenging and motivating. My students will benefit greatly in your donation of a touchscreen laptop. Your generosity will make learning less stressful and frustrating for my students with hearing losses and language delays. Please make our classroom a technology success now and for years to come!
