My Students

My fabulous theatre students are from all over the world, and they love learning about each others' languages and cultures. They are curious, collaborative, and creative. Together, we put on five performances a year. Students are on track to earn numerous state and regional theatrical awards in both acting and technical design.

Our school is a large, urban, inner-city school that values the arts.

We offer vocal and instrumental performance, drawing, painting, graphic design, dance, and theater. Our school has a large English as a New Language population as well as Special Education. Our theatre program is all-inclusive and entirely unique to the district.

My Project

We are building back our theater program after nearly two years away from the stage. We need equipment to help us safely, effectively tell stories for our community. Our goal is to help all students in the theater program feel welcomed, seen, and heard!

We have students of all backgrounds and races involved in our productions.

We want to make sure we have proper colors of wig caps, bobby pins, and ear rigs for microphones so all actors feel supported and seen.

Right now, there is no light backstage and the actors and technicians need to stay safe. We need to illuminate our space, but in a way that the audience can't see the backstage magic! We also need soft, unobtrusive lights in the two classrooms we use as dressing rooms.
