Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a renewal middle school in Bushwick, Brooklyn, building a community of independent learners in a neighborhood that is quickly growing and blossoming with artistic expression.
My dance students come from diverse ethnic backgrounds which contribute to our vibrant cultural dance explorations, but many students' families struggle to afford school supplies.
My middle school dancers sometimes start off self-conscious or nervous about dancing, but soon their personality shines through and they lose their inhibition in the safe space of our dance community.
My Project
The dance program at my school has been given a new space for dance this year! We need to have an awesome sound system to go with our new space so dancers can "see the music" and "hear the dance."
The quality of sound really makes a difference in students' performance.
Think about the times you've heard really great quality music and how inspiring that is. There are details and nuances in music that are just lost on small speakers. My dancers are already inspired to move- please give them this sound system to bring out their best.
I can't wait to see where this sound system will take them...
