Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach ESOL for all grade levels in an awesome Title III, neighborhood school in Pompano Beach, Florida. My students are a diverse group with various learning needs and challenges. We are a Title III school which means that more than 90% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunches. Many come from different countries. For many of them English is their second language. Most of the students in the classrooms do not have access to internet, computers or devices that can assist them with technology for district and state tests. It is important that students learn in a stimulating environment. Each student will use their assigned school laptop with the headphones donated in each classroom. My students are motivated by engaging activities. They love to learn how to speak, read and do math in English.

My Project

In a 21st Century classroom laptops are an integral part of the learning experience. Being able to focus and maintain a quiet learning environment is critical to many students, especially those with disabilities. A class set of headphones will allow my students to work without getting confused with the noise around them.

Headphones are crucial in order to prevent distractions while using the computers.

My non-English speaking students need technology to help them assimilate and become English speakers at a faster rate.

My students will appreciate the class set of headphones and will be grateful that they will all be able to use the computers to work on projects and access their textbooks at the same time without noise!
