Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students are what many consider reluctant learners. They are the ones that have sat silently in a class and been overlooked or not challenged enough in a traditional classroom setting. Their confidence in learning is many times non-existent. They are content with just doing the bare minimum to just pass their classes.
Many of my students don't have a support system in place that can provide them with the tools needed to build that confidence and to attain success in their education.
They have come to our school for the chance to attain credit recovery, which will improve their GPA, and to develop self- efficacy, so they can be successful in their education.
My Project
Our district adopted curriculum consisting of online video tutorials that students follow along with in their course books. Currently, the headphones I have are what I call "vintage" as they are probably from the 20th century and most likely older than my students. They either don't work or have poor sound quality. With a class set of these new headphones, they will have the opportunity to not only watch the videos but also listen to them with crisp, clear sound quality.
The headphones will allow my students to move at their own pace, go back and listen to any portion of the content that wasn't clear to them, as well as view videos of worked out solutions to specific problems.
Algebra 1 is usually the class that most students "Hate". The ability to have different mediums to bring them the content of the curriculum will give them the confidence that they are so desperately needing.
They will have the ability to go back and view videos on skills that they may be lacking and be able to move ahead and challenge themselves by previewing new content.
