Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school are driven, hard-working, and perhaps most importantly, are just kids. They love to learn and play with their friends! My school is comprised of around 400 students in the heart of south OKC with 91% of them of hispanic ethnicity. 100% of our students get free/reduced lunch.

Passion, curiosity, and resilience: my students retain these characteristics while facing the toughest school year they've ever had.

As their school nurse, I may be the only health care provider of any sort that they interact with, and I want to ensure I am able to provide them with the care they so desperately lack.

My Project

All of these supplies will aid in creating a healthy clinic for my school and students. I always strive to create an atmosphere of care and warmth in my clinic, and these supplies will tremendously aid in this goal! Just to start, the band-aids will aid in inclusivity and celebrate diversity, the pulse oximeter and otoscope will enable early identification of childhood issues, and the poster will help non-English speaking students identify what hurts!

With the help of these basic supplies, my students will have a more inclusive, more prepared clinic that will allow them to focus on their education.

This is my first DonorsChoose project; my goal is to help my Eagles SOAR!
