My Students

I currently have 40 students in my special education (SPED) classes. My students are SPED students and have a love for technology, reading, math and science. They are very excited about learning and I want to make the class interactive. Due to time, we are limited. My students don't have access to much technology or additional resources at home. Many of our students are foster care students and they don't have any technology. The students in my classroom are a diverse group of children who come from intricate family backgrounds. I teach at a low-income school and I in a classroom full of eager learners who are enthusiastic about coming to school every day!

My Project

My young athletes all stars are at a crucial stage in their development and staying healthy is at the top of the list of important aspects of their lives.

In addition to a water dispenser with cups for hydration throughout practice, we will use the healthy snacks to teach about healthy practices in general.

They will have access to these snacks daily after practice. My students currently bring unhealthy foods to eat. My students want to be healthy and they want to learn. Healthy practices, including hydration, healthy foods, and healthy exercise contribute to being healthy all lifelong. My students play volleyball very well and they can be better if they have the proper diet in place.

After Hurricane Irma my students have lost everything and we are trying to rebuild our program. We lost everything that was locked away in our shed. We are starting over and we can't wait to get things rolling again. My students need these basic essentials so they can excel in school and in life far beyond the classroom. When your basic needs are met, you can begin to think about all the enriching things in life besides mere survival.
