My Project

Help me to provide healthy snacks for my students to feed their bodies and minds! As a school social worker, every day students come to my office and request snacks. For some, it is simply because they need an extra boost or perhaps didn't eat enough that day. For far too many others, it is because they do not have access to healthy and nutritious food on a daily basis at home.

Working in a school community of students/families who primarily come from low-income backgrounds, many of my students do not have access to the nutrition they need and come to school hungry.

Being able to providing healthy snacks to my students feeds their minds and bodies so they can be their best academic selves. It also allows for me to provide food to students in a de-stigmatized and judgement free way.

In addition to the healthy snacks, I hope to get some Pride materials to hand out to students during Pride Month in June. This helps to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for our students here at the Joseph Lee and allows them to feel safer in their school community.
