My Students

I am the Reading Specialist for our elementary school. This means I get to spend each day teaching fourth and fifth grade readers in one of the best rural schools in Oklahoma! My students are a diverse group with varied levels of learning. Our classroom is a space where students enjoy coming to learn. We are a Title I school with the majority of our students receiving free lunches. Many of my students are enrolled in virtual distance learning this year, while others are attending full time in person.

These students have huge hearts and love to learn in non-traditional ways including room transformations, arts integrated lessons, and project-based learning.

My students have curiosity, creativity, compassion, and positive attitudes. They are truly amazing people. My school is wonderfully supportive of the active hands-on learning that we do in our classroom. I couldn't ask for a better learning environment for these students. We are truly a community!

My Project

I would love to provide healthy snacks for my amazing distance learning Title I Reading Students. My students and their families have been through a lot with this pandemic. Some parents have lost jobs, some are sick with Covid-19, some have lost family members, and many are struggling to make ends meet. These students have chosen to stay home and learn virtually, so they are missing out on snacks at school and daily school lunches.

I would like to support these students by providing them healthy snacks that will not only brighten their day, but also give them nutrients to help their brains focus and provide energy.

I would like to provide chicken noodle soup, Crystal Light Drink Mix, assorted candy prizes, deodorant, warm socks, Lysol wipes, blankets, popcorn and chips. I will use the printer ink, laminator and tape to create learning activities that will be used repeatedly by all students.

This will be a small token of kindness to help my students stay healthy, strong and nourished. Thank you for helping us reach our goal of a group healthy learners!
