Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a dual language classroom. Our students are bilingual in Spanish and English to varying degrees and are quite talkative! They come into the classroom with smiles on their faces every morning.

To keep those smiles going I want to be able to provide my students with items that will not only promote their learning but also their health and safety.

My young learners do so much learning through play and along the road they learn through experiences, both in and out of school. They are so eager to learn and spend time in school that it has become their second home. My students have breakfast and lunch as a family and nap to rest their bodies and minds for the day.

My Project

My students are very active learners. We always have some sort of movement session. At times there's need for them to drink water and not all students bring water bottles with them. Our classroom water fountain is not in the best working condition so a Brita Water Pitcher would be the best thing to get for them. It can filter the tap water and we can easily serve a cup to students.

My students are reminded on the importance of good hygiene each and every moment of the day.

There are time when one or two forget to use a tissue and rub a boogie away on their sleeve. We also catch them with their little fingers up their noses and we immediately send them to wash their hands. These students are constantly washing their hands: when they arrive, to have breakfast, after breakfast, whenever they come back from the playground, to have lunch, to have snack, and any other time the requires it, so you can imagine how many soap bottles we go through. A gallon of hand soap can help to refill the bottles we already have and reduce the spread of germs.

As young learners, and simply just young people, they feel like a tiny cut or scrape is the hardest thing they'll have to deal with. A band-aid helps. Its useful in its purpose but also provides comfort to continue on with the day.
