Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Kindergartners are energetic kids with a love of learning. They are eager to learn and eager to play. In our district. Over ninety percent of our students come from low-socioeconomic families. A large percentage of them meet the definition of homeless. Their parents are struggling to pay rent and get food on the table. They are working necessary jobs for us and for their families.

My kindergartners worry about starting school (and staying safe), and yet, they still want to come to school to explore, create, read, write, learn and grow.

I want my students to be safe and stay healthy as they work hard to learn to read and learn to use technology. I want them to have the materials they need to be safe and healthy, and also, to learn language arts, math, science and social studies.

My Project

In kindergarten, we learn to share and communicate with others. We learn through play. I want my students to be able to safely touch and play with all of the manipulatives that we share at home and school.

With this grant, students will receive home made disinfectant wipes, Kleenex and hand sanitizer.

They will be kept safe at home and at school with a thermometer to gauge temperature, a floor sweeper, and containers for their take-home school supplies.

Please help me to keep my students healthy.

The hand washing card is a teaching tool that shows kids how to wash their hands properly so they can stay healthy and free of germs. We will learn how to use tissue safely. A Kleenex tissue box will be given to each child for their home and also placed next to each child so that if they need to sneeze, cough or blow their noses, they will use the tissue and toss it away, versus the elbow, per new guidelines from the county health department. A bottle of hand sanitizer will be given to the adult in the family. Students will be given an assignment during our distance learning days to share what they learned at school about healthy habits and how to be safe at home. I want to keep my students healthy. I want to keep them coming to school.
