Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a diverse community in Queens, NY. They come from a huge variety of economic, religious, and cultural backgrounds. We have many ENL students who are new English-language speakers and learners. Over 80% of our students qualify for free and/or reduced lunch.
Our school works hand-in-hand with the community to ensure the highest quality education for ALL students who attend here.
We have a focus on service learning and global conservation, where the students and staff take part in fundraising and creating awareness about issues within the community and around the world. We make global partnerships and teach important citizenship values to our students through these worldwide connections.
My Project
These materials will help my students by providing them with hygiene products to help with their maturing bodies. Many of our students are starting to mature and hygiene is a big concern as the weather warms up.
These sample-sized deodorants will help my students practice good hygiene and teach them to work on self-care at home.
We are asking for a variety of hygiene products in order to accommodate for both our male and female students. Many students are embarrassed to ask for these hygiene products from their parents and we are hoping these products will encourage discuss with their parents about self-care and hygiene at home.
