Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school has made tremendous gains over the past twelve years, moving from one of the lowest-performing schools in the area to achieving the honor of being named a California Distinguished School!

We are an example of a community of students, teachers, parents, and staff all working together for academic achievement.

Our hope is that many of our students will be the first generation in their families to go to college!

The majority of my students are English language learners (ELLs) whose families are newcomers to America. They are highly motivated to learn and prosper.

My Project

Did you know that heart disease is the leading cause of death in America? Current data indicates that 18.5 percent of American children and adolescents are overweight. Staying at home during distance learning and this pandemic is causing many of my students to live sedentary lives.

In order to help my students maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, I would like to provide them with jump ropes.

The jump ropes would be used during distance learning physical education classes.

Our class will also be participating in the American Heart Association's Kids Heart Challenge in the near future. The jump ropes would be used during this event to help raise money for children with heart conditions.

My students want to maintain a healthy lifestyle during this pandemic. They don't want to be part of the statistics. Please help us as we try to maintain healthy hearts during distance learning.
