My Students

I teach 23 first graders in a low-income/high poverty district in East Texas. My students come from working families that value education but do not always have the resources or educational background to provide reinforcement of skills learned at school. When they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. Despite the challenges both in and out of the classroom, I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My students are clever, imaginative and very spontaneous.

They like to move, they love to read, and love lots of positive attention. They deserve the best education possible. These students need materials that will help keep their interest and motivate their desire to learn.

My Project

Allowing students to express themselves is crucial to opening their minds to the possibilities that we have not even started to explore. I want my students to be able to show their creativity and imagination. Students need various outlets to show what they are thinking, what they like and what they want to share.

In order to focus on learning their bellies have to be full.

The snacks will help them feel full, energized and get them excited for learning. The paint and ink will play a crucial role in allowing all students opportunities that did not exist for them previously. Each student wants to feel part of the class and this would allow them to all be produce art pieces to be proud of.
