Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The vacuum cleaner will ensure the rug area, where many of our non-verbal students with autism love to play and engage in activities, remains clean and free of germs, dust, and allergens. Many of our students put their hands and toys in their mouths, which increases the risk of illness. In addition, most of our students have allergies and asthma, making it even more important to maintain a clean environment. By keeping the rug sanitized, we can reduce the likelihood of illness and allergy flare-ups, creating a healthier and safer space. This clean environment will allow our students to focus better on their activities, reducing distractions and promoting better engagement in sensory play and learning. This is especially crucial since many of our students come from low-income households. The classroom can be a place they call home, where they feel safe and supported.

The goal of this project is to provide a clean, safe, and healthy play area for our non-verbal students with autism.

These students spend a significant amount of time on the rug, and due to their tendency to put their hands and toys in their mouths, they are at a higher risk of illness and allergy flare-ups. By maintaining a germ-free rug, we aim to reduce the spread of germs and allergens, preventing asthma triggers and illness. This will allow them to stay healthier, more comfortable, and participate in learning activities without interruptions. The classroom provides a sense of stability and safety, and ensuring it is clean is essential to creating a space they can truly call home.

Our non-verbal students are special because they have unique ways of interacting with the world. By providing a clean and safe space, we help them thrive, feel supported, and focus on developing skills and building relationships with peers.
