About My Students

The four students who brainstormed this idea to help students stay healthy are creative outside-of-the-box thinkers. They are taking my course for college credit and care not only about their own education, but also about the education of their peers.

It's their creative problem-solving skills that inspired this project. They noticed that many of their peers miss school due to illness. These young ladies determined that one way they could help their classmates come to school was to find a way to keep them healthy. That's how "Healthy Hands for High School Students" was formed.

As I stated earlier, these four high school juniors are creative problem-solvers who care about their classmates and are genuinely concerned when their peers miss multiple days of school due to the spread of germs. These girls have chosen to be leaders of this project and take ownership of the hand cleaner dispensers. They are going to monitor the dispensers throughout the week to make sure other students are using them. Also, they are going to be in charge of refilling the dispensers when the hand cleaner runs out. I'm proud of the initiative and teamwork these four students are modeling for their peers.

In Their Own Words

We need four hand sanitizer dispensers and seven packs of double refill packs. The goal we are trying to accomplish is keeping everyone healthy by providing one effective way of keeping germs away. We think having hand sanitizer dispensers in high traffic areas of the school will help stop the spread of so many germs, especially when viruses are going around school. By making hand sanitizer available, we stay healthy and miss fewer days of school.

We, as student leaders, will make sure that our peers know about the new dispensers around school and encourage them to be used. We will make sure that they are properly handled and not misused. We will also make sure that the dispensers are always stocked with sanitizer.

This is important to my school and community because this is an item that all students beg for. In my school there has not been a class I have been in where a student has not asked for sanitizer and a teacher responds with "I'm sorry there isn't any.'' Students in my school are always in need of hand sanitizer, and this donation would stop the disgusting spread of germs.
