Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come from low-income/high-poverty areas. Daily, my students are faced with several challenges both inside and outside of the classroom. Our school is a safe place for them to learn and thrive. It is my goal to create a classroom environment that will allow our students to succeed! Having all of the supplies and materials needed to allow them to learn about the world we live in today is a necessity.

As a first-generation high school and college graduate, I use stories from my own life and experiences to relate to my scholars.

Our testing is done through NWEA, and the NWEA MAP Growth "uses the RIT (Rasch Unit) scale to help [students and teachers] measure and compare academic achievement and growth." If a student shows growth, they will earn a ticket into the 'RIT Raffle.' This will allow them to win a variety of prizes such as footballs, basketballs, stickers, earbuds, and other goodies, and other great prizes!
