Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Kindergarten students are lovely, very active and curious. They are always asking questions and wanting to learn more!

For the past 18 years, I have been honored to work at a Title I school here in Houston, Texas teaching a primarily immigrant community where 99% of our student population receive free breakfast, lunch and a snack.

Most of our students come from large low income families and are struggling English speakers. A majority of our students' parents did not get the opportunity to have a higher level of education, some don't even know how to read or write. Many of our students' families incurred great loss due to the hurricane losing their homes

My Project

After Harvey, we lost all the materials. Finally, we were relocated in another campus. I have worked hard to set up my classroom, but I still need some items for my workstations. The magnetic boards will be used to create an interactive word wall. Students will use the word wall to expand their vocabulary and develop their reading and writing skills. The air purifier will help my students improve their health while working actively and engaged.

My students deserve a clean and healthy environment free of dust to avoid allergies, sicknesses, and frequent absences.
