My Students

"Why are we here?" is what I always ask my third-grade students every day. They always answer with a resounding, "To do our best and learn something new!" as they enter my class with smiles on their tiny faces. Our elementary school has a high number of students who are high-poverty, first-generation immigrants from Haiti.

As their third-grade teacher, my main objective is to enhance and improve my students' young learning experiences, especially when it pertains to their learning environment.

Even though we have to cater to and adapt to such a diverse range of learning needs, we strongly believe that all children will learn if given the right tools and technology.

My Project

These hands-on math and science learning projects in the form of "The Math Chef" and "The Science Chef" recipe books I am requesting, help to demonstrate many basic tasks that everyone has to do daily, such as learning about cooking, safety in the kitchen, and cleaning.

My students will learn hands-on about force and motion, the property of magnets, how temperature affects matter, and they will learn how to measure solids and liquids.

These activities will teach facts and skills that will help these students be independent, and students can be moving and be active, while actively learning how to cook and eat healthily.

Each child will have their own chef book due to CDC guidelines that prohibit them from sharing materials.
