My Students

I teach 2nd through 5th grade Special Education students in a class which is multi-cultural including African American, Russian, Cambodian and Hispanic. My students have a variety of difficulties with learning. Some of my students also receive Speech, ESOL, and gifted and talented services. The majority of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch, which often leads to them not having the supplies they need for school.

The students that I teach are all working 1-2 years below their grade level in both reading and math.

These students need extra support and practice. They often need hands-on materials to help them learn.

Even with the challenges that they face, my students are hard workers who never give up!

My Project

A healthy classroom benefits everyone. By having cleaning supplies and tissues on hand, we will be able to keep our classroom clean and germ-free which will result in less time being spent out of class due to sickness and more time in the class learning.

Most of my students can't afford to bring in supplies for our class.

Therefore, we usually end up running out of things such as tissues and hand sanitizer.

I want to be able to provide these basic necessities to my students. By having these supplies, we will be able to be proactive in keeping down illnesses and staying healthy.
