My Project

If you are not a teacher you have probably never heard of Maslow's Hierarchy of Basic Needs, but they are a crucial component and precursor to learning! They are fun, freedom, a sense of belonging, a feeling of safety and security, and meeting physical needs like space, health and wellness, and hunger. Our school is already providing every single kiddo that wants it a daily balanced breakfast and lunch. BUT---these are the middle school years, have you ever seen the appetite of a teenager or preteen? It is truly impressive.

A hungry learner, according to Maslow, a father of educational research, is not much of a learner at all, because they are distracted.

Please help me get these snacks and some candy rewards to meet those needs and make my kiddos motivated and satiated learners! I think we have a really good balance of rewards for hard work, good manners, and good behavior-- cue the chips and snacks, and even some of my students' favorite candies! Along with snacks to be nutritious and fill those adolescent tummies like Takis. Thank you for helping me make this project a reality!
