Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am not your traditional educator. I am an elementary school nurse who gets to take care of over 600 students and staff at a Title 1 school in the heart of Houston. We have a large percentage of students that come from low income households. My students are special because despite this, they are happy and eager to learn. I look forward to every school day because I get hellos, hugs and smiles from all of them.

By donating to this project, you will be contributing to keeping children safe and healthy that will ultimately help to promote their overall well-being and academic achievement.

In my first year as a school nurse (going on 25 years as a Registered Nurse), I have been welcomed into a school where the primary language is not English and I feel that I have learned just as much from the children and they have from me. I feel that the items in this project will help me better accomplish treating my students and staff, keeping my clinic organized and teaching them healthy habits that some may not learn about at home.
