My Students

At our school we serve an extremely diverse population of students. Most of our students come from low income families and receive free or reduced price lunch and breakfast.

Our students come to physical education with very little knowledge about health, wellness or nutrition.

Due to this deficit, we are working from the very ground up when teaching health, wellness and physical education. Our students are kind, generous, yet very needy. Funding our physical education projects will have lifelong lasting effects on the lives of our students.

My Project

This project provides my students with hands-on materials for learning about healthy eating! By learning about nutrition early on, I hope to encourage lifelong health and wellness for my students! Pretend Play Magnetic Healthy Foods will give my students the ability to learn by touching, playing and experiencing what it is like to choose healthy foods on their own plates. The healthy food bingo and fruits and vegetables memory match games will allow students to learn and practice food selection in a fun way.

In a school where over 70 percent of our students receive free or reduced price lunch, nutrition education is extremely important.

Students need to be empowered to make healthy decisions at mealtimes. Please help us learn and grow to become healthy adults by contributing to our project!
