Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a big push for Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in my school community that's sadly underserved. My personal yoga practice during remote teaching/learning has helped me focus and grow as an individual and as a professional. Yoga and meditation has brought so much peace and strength into my life. This is the reason I want to take the Breathe for Change 200-hour Wellness, SEL and Yoga Teacher Training so that I can bring these same tools to my classroom and my school.

Breathe For Change's 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training will teach me the skills necessary to promote wellness in my students, staff, and the school community.

After completing the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, I will become certified as a Social-Emotional Learning Facilitator (SEL*F) and earn a nationally recognized RYT-200 Yoga Teacher Certification which qualifies me to lead wellness classes for my students and community.

I plan to teach yoga, mindfulness, and breathwork to my students with disabilities to help them with managing their emotions and improving their ability to self-regulate. Furthermore, I plan to teach yoga after-school to teachers in the South Bronx and/or caregivers so that they can benefit from mindful practices too! I can't wait to get started on this journey!
