My Students

Do you know what it's like to leave your whole world behind? My students have come from all over the world to start a new life in the United States.

My students are refugees from around the world.

They come from 24 different countries and speak 28 different languages. Many of these students have never gone to school. Most of them have never gone to schools like American schools. The one thing they all have in common is that they have come here for a better life and school is where this improvement starts.

My Project

My students come from all over the world. They are expected to succeed doing 7th grade work, but they do not have the background knowledge or basic understanding of the English language to succeed at this level. One of the main things they need to work on is beginner reading skills.

Headsprout is a computer program and an app that will identify their areas of need and target skills for my students to work on.

Investing in this program for school and home use, along with continuing the current reading program, will allow our countries newest students to find their greatest success and progress.
