My Students

The 28 multicultural children who I spend most of my day with are extremely hard working and come to school each day to do their absolute best. Although our classroom has the bare minimum in terms of supplies and equipment, my students make the best out of so little. It makes me feel extremely privileged to be their teacher. The children have also formed a bond with each other that goes beyond the walls of the classroom. They are very helpful to each other and the first ones to finish an assignment are also the first ones to want to help their classmates.

My students are also a very "giving" group.

Although most of their families do not have funds to spare, the children recently emptied their own piggy banks to help raise money for little boys and girls with cancer.

My Project

These materials will make such a difference in my student's lives. There is nothing better, when you are seven or eight, to have a story read to you. Imagine having the power to hear that story over and over again, anytime you want!

Being able to hear their favorite stories will help my second graders to read and follow the words.

Some stories they will listen to might be too hard for them to read alone, but with these cd players, my students won't need to be hesitant to try them.

With these personal cd players, my students will have a choice in what they would like to listen to.

With fictional and non-fictional books, my students can listen and follow along while taking their time to process what they learn. These cd players, will give each student the freedom to practice the same book over and over again!
