My Students

The recent surge of multimedia use in our classroom has helped tremendously in creating an inclusive, innovative, and engaging learning environment. My students are in need of headphones to continue developing their science literacy so that they may be best prepared for careers in STEM.

I am a proud teacher of one hundred and twenty 7th grade science students!

My hardworking scientists come from a diverse, high-need community in New York. A large percentage of our school's population are English Language Learners and special education students, and 97% of our students qualify for free lunch. Despite the obstacles and lack of resources in their lives outside of school, my students are always eager to learn and make the most of every experience in the classroom.

My Project

My students and I are so thankful to have won a national STEM competition last spring that earned our class a set of laptops. We have since witnessed major success through the creative integration of the laptops in our curriculum. The laptops have not only made the vast library of current and evolving scientific knowledge provided by online resources readily available, but they have given us daily access to multimodal representations of content. My students would greatly benefit from a class set of headphones to allow the entire class to play audio/video simultaneously within a confined space; these materials would help create a highly focused, differentiated, fun, student-centered, and productive learning environment.
