My Students

My students are a diverse group of learners. They have varying cultural and economic backgrounds. Also, they represent all types of learners: gifted and talented, English language learners, special education, etc. We are also a music magnet school so most of our students play instruments.

My students are curious about the world around them.

They love asking questions and then using technology to research their inquiries. My class this year really has a love of learning and it's exciting to watch.

My Project

Headphones would promote literacy by allowing students to listen to books on the Chromebooks. My students are lucky enough to have a class set of Chromebooks; however, with so many laptops in the room, it's hard for them have books or text read aloud to them.

These headphones support readers of all levels, allowing them to practice literacy skills in a meaningful way.

Our district provides apps where students can read books of interest and text books online. This feature is great for students, however my students reading below grade level have trouble reading some of the text.

Listening to the text and following along as the text is read, is especially helpful to my many English as a Second Language students. The modeling not only enhances comprehension, it builds vocabulary and fluency skills as well.

These headphones would allow all my students to focus on their reading skills simultaneously.
