My Students

As I watch my students walking to my class, I am filled with an overwhelming desire to open up the world to them and to expose them to endless possibilities. Somehow, sometimes, the lack of financial support hinders our dreams. My students don't know yet how far they can go.

My students are awesome, intelligent and often very doubtful about their future and their own potential.

Most are extremely intelligent, yet they seem almost nonchalant when it comes to learning and exploring the treasures stored up in their brains. My students love interactive activities and games. They thirst for the use of technology and make my heart yearn to give them the world. My students are poor and often lack the bare minimum. My school is a community under construction. Most of our students are dependent on the school for everything including pens, pencils and notebooks.

My Project

We are embarking on a partnership with a school in France and want to use Skype in the classroom to communicate with the french students. The students will also use the headphone in centers activities, in partners activities and in our makeshift language lab. As we are moving toward a global classroom geared toward differentiation, it is my goal to reach every student where he/she is. The use of the headphones and microphones will allow us to use listening and speaking skills which are crucial in the language learning process.

My students consider French just another course.

The listening devices will allow them to have a glimpse into a different world. They will finally get to see French as a communication tool and not just a subject. This project will affect the way I teach my students and maximize the way my students learn. It will also challenge them into becoming global thinkers that can compete in today's economy. As they see the world, it will open up their eyes to the reality of this 21st Century.
