My Students

My classroom is made up of 12 1st and 2nd grade students with special needs. The disabilities include autism, ADHD, emotional disturbance, speech language impairment, and specific learning disorder. Every day, my students show up ready to learn and grow. Academics and social skills do not come easy for them. My students are hard working individuals looking to be just like their general education peers.

Even though my students are labeled with a disability, they have so many abilities that should be celebrated.

The boys and girls in my class have wild imaginations, love for their friends, and positive attitudes. They can create elaborate stories and solve word problems. Unfortunately, sometimes their need for sensory input or regulation interferes with their ability to learn. With a little extra patience and support, my students are able to meet their goals.

My Project

My students with special needs are such hard workers. Unfortunately, sometimes loud noises can set them off and interfere with their academics or ability to participate alongside their general education peers in large and small group settings. Currently, they have to cover their ears with their hands or seek out quiet environments by removing themselves from the classroom.

Noiseless headphones will help my students reach their academic and social success both inside and outside of the classroom.

By wearing the headphones, loud and unexpected noises will be reduced and my students will be able to continue participating in the lesson being taught. My students will also use the noiseless during fire drills to reduce the loud sound of the alarm, which will aide in their safety. They will be able to enjoy all assemblies alongside their general education peers since they will no longer have to remove themselves from the loud room. Noiseless headphones will make a huge difference for my students as they navigate their classroom and school campus.
