Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a public school, first-grade classroom. I have thirty-two students who speak four different languages. Some of my students also have speech and fine motor challenges. Most of my students come from low-income housing. Regardless of their challenges, my students are a very resilient and inquisitive group of children who are always full of questions! They all have a zest for learning!

It is inspiring to see my students come to school every day, not knowing the language or culture, and bravely navigating their way through their learning experiences, striving towards their goal of independence.

It is truly a privilege to be a part of building a positive learning experience that they can carry with them through the years.

My Project

My students love technology! I am excited to introduce a new literacy strategy that combines singing with fluency and comprehension. This will also support my English Language Learners as they learn the English language.

Headphones help students work independently, without distruption, at their own pace, targeting their own specific needs.

Giving students their own pair of headphones will also help them hear each lesson at an appropriate volume and keep the students focused by eliminating any noisy distractions around them! The headphones would be a great addition to our classroom! With COVID, and these challenging financial times, I do not want to burden my families with the cost of buying headphones for their child. With your help, we can provide headphones for students! Your support is really appreciated!
