My Students

Our students are required to take placement exams to improve their literacy skills at the high school levels. We have many students that English is a new language so these programs will be very helpful to increase their word study, reading comprehension and grammar. At our high school we also have many students that are below grade level in the same areas so this program helps fill gaps. The usage of headphones minimizes distractions and lets our students get individualized instruction based on their personal literacy levels.

My Project

Our new high school does not have headphones for our students. We are looking for at least a class set so our students can utilize an online individualized student-driven literacy program to improve our non-proficient readers in grade 9 and 10. Our students are fortunate to have one-to-one devices and this program purchased through the district however headphones are not.

In order to use this program, they must listen to the interactive learning experience and it would be unmanageable without them.

Therefore, this program is next to impossible to implement which is a disservice to our students. Please help these students improve their literacy skills in high school!
