This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a high-poverty area in Virginia; my school is small, with about 350 children enrolled. The children in my building are great kids; they thrive off positive motivation and are very intuitive when focused. We were named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2006.
Currently, I am a Second grade teacher; I love teaching Second grade simply because kids are fun to teach at this level.
They are enthusiastic, happy to be at school, work together well (most times, haha!), and they are the perfect mixture of independence and neediness in behavior and attitude! I love this age group.
They make me WANT to come to work :-)
My Project
Anyone who knows Ms. Richardson knows that she LOVES TECHNOLOGY!! Even on a "bad" day, I find someway to incorporate computers into my lessons. Computers are certainly interactive, vivid, attractive, and entertaining--they definitely help me teach concepts to my students.
One problem that I seem to have every school year is keeping working headphones.
I buy a few new pairs each school year; I have headphones listed on the second grade supply list so each kid has their own personal set. However, it seems halfway into a school year, they break, bend, or short out--it is annoying!
I am asking for 12 sets of headphones to use in my computer station. They will be used when using educational websites such as EducationCity, BrainPop, or Study Jams and while taking standardized tests such as MAP and I-Ready. They are heavy-duty, so hopefully my kids can't break these as quickly, haha.
