The students at my school are awesome. They are happy to be at school every day and learning new things. They come from various cultural backgrounds and languages, creating a truly unique and diverse classroom. Many of them lack access to technology in the home which motivates us to provide these tools for our students even more. They are funny, dedicated, brilliant, kind, inquiring minds who rise to any academic challenge presented to them.
My students are 6 and 7-year-olds who need stimulating and enthralling academic exposures in order to help solidify the content they are learning.
We learn together in a small K-5 school that does the best it can for our highly impoverished population. Our school has a large ELL population and high needs for differentiation and authentic learning experiences. Our school is a family of teachers, support staff, and learners that truly care about one another and work together to deliver the best for each and every one of our students.
My Project
My classroom is 1-to-1 with Chromebooks. Allowing each student to have a pair of headphones would allow me to incorporate more learning opportunities for each student. Some lessons may require them to watch a video and take notes or respond in writing. Some students can use a program like Starfall to help them learn the English language. The possibilities would be endless if each student had a set of headphones. If each student has a set of headphones that they can use with their Chromebook, it would allow me to set up numerous lessons and learning centers to meet each of their learning needs. My students learning the English language can hear the language being spoken to them, my students with learning disabilities can have things read to them, the options are endless.
