My Students

Our students are in a lower-class, rural area. We have a large number of students who are being raised by grandparents, as well as a large number of transient students. Many of our parents are in the service industry which was hit hard when everything closed and is just starting to recover. These guardians need to work and need to know their child is safe and healthy at school.

Our students were in person throughout the 2020-21 school year.

We worked hard to keep them safe and as a result, we have very few cases of the Covid 19 virus spreading at school. One way we kept our students safe was to provide them with their own set of basic school supplies - folders, pencils, markers, scissors, and headphones.

My Project

During the 2020 - 2021 school year, our students were in the classroom every day. We enforced the mask mandates and cleaned extra through the day. Since we followed these recommendations, the COVID-19 virus did not spread in our classrooms. Since we could not do as many hands-on activities, our students used headphones every day.

Our 5th graders did a great job of taking care of their supplies.

We made sure they had the supplies they needed to be successful through a pandemic which included using our headphones every day. Since they used them daily, some headphones didn't quite make it through the year. The headphones I am requesting are to supplement the ones I have in the classroom currently.
