My Students

I work with middle school students that have Dyslexia. I am a specialized reading teacher. I teach 6, 7 and 8th grade students how to read. One of the sad truths of our educational system is that many special education students especially minorities make it to middle school without the ability to read even simple words. My students attend my class for two periods and typically stay about two years. The majority of my students have made immense progress in reading prior to Covid-19 and now I need your assistance in helping my students during this new and challenging online learning environment.

My Project

All of my students have been identified with learning disabilities. Due to this diagnosis, my students need a small group setting to prosper. However, all of my students come from low-income homes and will not have a quiet room or space to learn at home.

The headphones that I have requested will help my students with dyslexia stay focused during my online lessons.

Please help me help them. Last school year the students did not have headphones or computers for distance learning. This year my school district said they would provide chrome books only. The positive behavior certificates are for me to include with their gift cards that I will be mailing for participation and effort.
