My Students

My students face many challenges before they even enter the school doors each morning. We are located in an area of extreme poverty, with 100% of students receiving free lunch and breakfast each day. Many families cannot afford basic supplies such as pencils and notebooks, much less any extras.We also have a very transient population and many students have no parent support at home. These kids just do not have the opportunities and support they need and deserve. That being said, they are amazing!

My Project

My students need headphones so they can work independently on the classroom laptops. They will be able to access individualized curriculum, motivating learning games, and even complete their assessments online. This access not only makes learning more fun and engaging for them but also prepares them with the technological skills they need as they advance through school and life. Headphones are on our school supply list, however, most families could not afford to buy them. I currently have .49 earbuds that I give to students to use. You can imagine the quality of sound as they listen to a story to be tested on after. Challenging, to say the least! They tend to break after a few uses. I'm looking for a more permanent solution that will allow my students to succeed!
