Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 7th grade language arts. My students are from middle to low income class. I have 1/3 of my students at or below the 25th percentile in reading. We have a new literature series that has the majority of the practices, tests, quizzes, and enhancements to be done on the computer. Most of the time the students need to listen to instructions and guided reading. The majority of the kids do not have earphones. I have 25 computers in the classroom so you can imagine how loud it can get. Half of my students are on the computers while the other half are working independently with me.

My Project

My students are at different levels when it comes to reading and they really need to be focused when they are on their grade level. I have 40 students that are below the 25%ile and they are easily distracted. Our District bought a new series that requires the students to work mostly on line.

As the rest of the group works on 7th grade level, they can work on their level that needs to be met without interruption.

At the same time, the group that is working quietly at their desks, do not need to be hearing what is going on at the computers. They need to work on grade level material.
