My Students

Our students are from a very rural area, in a town of about 800 people. Most of them eat at least two meals a day at school. We now offer breakfast in the classroom to every student through a state funded program because of the lower income of most students' parents or families. We've found that food helps to keep our attendance more regular and our students more engaged. Full bellies are always a good thing.

Our students are bright and eager to learn.

They appreciate the effort and time their teachers take to create vibrant lessons, as well as the supplies and experiences they are provided with each year.

My Project

Having a class set of headphones will make it possible for my students to all be participating in "ear reading" at the same time. It will also allow them to practice their spelling words on websites that read the words to them and then prompt them to spell. They also love to listen to audiobooks on Epic, which is really hard when they are all on different books or the same one and we start hearing it in stereo around the room. My students will also be able to view videos on Kohn academy and watch individualized math lessons during center work time.
