I am a computer teacher in a New York City public middle school. I teach 6th and 7th grade computer classes in the school media center/library. The computers are also used during lunch periods and many teachers bring in their classes for students to use the lab.

Many of the existing headphones are broken: ear pieces have detached or no sound can be heard. This creates a great disadvantage for the students who wish to use many of the multimedia programs available. The sound has to be turned off because it is distracting to other students.

With the purchase of new headphones, students will be able to properly use the multimedia programs and will have the advantage of listening to the audio portion of the programs. Many students are auditory learners and are at a great disadvantage if they cannot hear portions of the multimedia programs.

With your assistance in purchasing new headphones to replace the broken ones, my students will be able to take full advantage of the technology in the media center.
