AMS is a Title 1 school in the far reaches of Western North Carolina. Many of our students are considered to be in the lower socioeconomic status. 70% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. We have a small percentage of minority students that make up 12% of the student population. This year at AMS, we have gone to a total digital classroom.
Our students are learning the many exciting tools that are offered using Google Classroom and the many different Chrome apps.
My Project
These headphones will be used to expand the digital material for our classroom. Many of these students have more success with literature when they can listen to it while they read along. Also, our ESL students can benefit in so many ways such as having material translated into their language.
There are many valuable on-line educational resources that we use and many of them involve watching videos.
Having individual headphones lessens the distractions so each student can have a better opportunity to concentrate on the task at hand. At the beginning of the school year, we were fortunate to receive donations of iPod earbuds from members of the community. Unfortunately, almost all of them have been broken. These Sony headphones are more durable and will last much longer than the earbuds we have.
