My Students
Rita Pierson once said, "Every child deserves a champion—an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be."
Our kids come from a neighborhood that has long been underserved and unfairly underfunded.
However, this year we have set some amazing plans into motion. Our school, which some might call the ultimate "underdog", is in the midst of an exciting comeback story! The first part of our turn-around plan is our new Academic Parent Teacher Team program that has been successful in helping us reestablish & strengthen a genuine partnership among our school community, teachers, and families. The second half of our plan is providing students with the personalized, targeted literacy support that they need. Specifically, we are rolling out a new reading intervention program, small group tutoring sessions, & a cutting edge online literacy platform that will serve as the extra, personalized push our students need to thrive this year.
With all of these exciting initiatives comes a need for specific supplies such as headphones, printer ink, file folders, that neither my students, nor my school has the funds to purchase themselves.
My Project
Our school is in the midst of an exciting turn-around & this year, at the forefront our out plan, is our plan to provide our kids with personalized, targeted literacy instruction. One of the online platforms we are utilizing requires that our students have headphones - a luxury that our students can not afford on their own. We plan to store these headphones in our classroom for safe keeping, so that's why we need the over-the-door organizer. Our second program is a paper-based academic intervention program that requires our students to each have their own folders and borrow books from our new library. This is where the book lending card system, wall hooks, & folder organizer come into play.
I am SO excited to launch these programs with my kids & get them on their way to reaching their potential.
